CASEIN

Casein is one of the oldest paint mediums – going back 9,000 years in cave paintings and used by Byzantine and Roman artists .  It is made by mixing pure colour with casein (milk protein) emulsion as the binder. It is water-miscible, and dries extremely quickly leaving a matte finish. It requires protection under glass (as with watercolour)
